For the World cup 1982 England were chosen to play France, Czechoslovakia and Kuwait, these countries formed Group 4. All of England Games were held at San Mames, Bilbao.

On the 16th June 1982 England beat France, winning 3-1. England also won their game against Czechoslovakia 2-0, on the 20th June 1982. England proceeded to win their last game 1-0, on the 25th of June 1982 against Kuwait.
Winning all three matches, England Became top of their group and were put through to the second stage in Madrid.

Unfortunately the second stage didn’t go so well!
England Drew both games 0-0. The first to West Germany on the 29th June and the second on the 2nd July 1982 playing against Spain. Sadly this was the end of England’s 1982 World cup.

The second stage saw all three teams play at Sanitiago Bernabeu, Madrid.

The tournament was won by Italy, after defeating West Germany 3–1 in the final on 11 July 1982
